We Invite You to Check Out this Free Screening Event from The Autism-Asperger Support Group:
“The Autism & Asperger Support Group of Bowling Green is excited to announce that in cooperation with the ECC at WKU (Big Red School), Lifeskills, First Steps and Graves Gilbert Clinic we are having an Autism Family Night from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8th at Chick-Fil-A on Campbell Lane. Because many kids are not routinely screened, we wanted to try and help bridge that gap by offering free screeners for children ages 12 months to 5 years old during Autism Awareness Month in April.
We are thrilled to have qualified professionals volunteering to administer the screener as well. It will take parents only a few minutes to answer the questions and get their results. Children who have an abnormal result will be referred to First Steps if under age 3, the public school system, and for further psychological evaluation. We know that early intervention makes a huge difference for children with an autism spectrum disorder, and we are hoping to catch some who might not be detected apart from a formal screener. Anyone who completes a screener at the event will have their name entered into a drawing for prizes. There will be some fun autism related activities for kids as well.”
