CLiK would like to highlight Positive Behavior Support Specialist of the month, Christine Little, BCaBA, MS:
“I attended my hometown community college (Olney Central College) right out of highschool. It was during this time that I was blessed with the opportunity to work as an implementer of a DTT program for a local family. I completed my Associates Degree & transferred to Southern Illinois University, where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree is Psychology. I then attended the Behavior Analysis & Therapy program following a recommendation by a friend. I had been married for about four years at this time & was very excited to be able to attend such an important program so close to my new family. I knew right away that I wanted to attend this program. I was excited to get the chance to work with individuals with developmental disabilities and autism.
This program offered a variety of opportunities for experience. I completed my practicum at the Autism Center & my internship at Project Ways (a program to train parents basic child care & behavior management, in order to prevent continued involvement with the Department of Children & Family services). I graduated from the program with a Master’s of Science in Behavior Analysis & Therapy.
I worked for a year with the Developmentally Delayed & Autistic population in St. Louis, Missouri. Although it was a wonderful company & I truly loved my participants, I had to move on after one year due to the difficulty of traveling. During this time I passed the BCaBA exam & then was able to work for a company whose primary population of service was individuals with traumatic brain injury. I worked there as a Behavior Therapist for 3 years, then accepted a promotion to Program Manager of the Day Treatment program. Following the birth of my third child, I resigned as program manager in order to reduce my stress & spend more quality time with my family. I have 3 beautiful boys, ages 8, 3, & 9 months. I plan to take the BCBA exam in the fall of 2014. I love working with this population & am truly excited & grateful to have found a company that shares my dedication & enthusiasm.”
